The Akai Ryu Venus Fly Trap has hinged leaves with 3 or 4 sensitive hairs in the center of each lobe. When an insect touches the hairs, the hinge mechanism is triggered, and the leaves close quite rapidly, trapping the insect. Grow this in a terrarium, in a cool greenhouse or in a bog garden.
• Average mature height: Under 6 inches
• Light: Full to part sun
• Soil: Grows well in peat, peat/perlite, or sphagnum moss. Place a tray of water underneath to keep the plant wet.
• Zones: 6-10
